Tribes Project
This project was based on a book that we were reading ; The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian. It was about a young India boy who had to leave behind his best friend and a known environment to join an all white school and have a chance for a good future. We took parts of this book and expanded them to create mini presentations. For an example there was a part in the book where the main character describes the "Unofficial and Unwritten Spokane Indian Rules of Fisticuffs" (8.86) and from that some people created their own unwritten rules. But most of all what we were focused on was the question "What tribe do you belong to?".
The House on Mango Street
Way before reading the book we made a similar performance (probably to get us ready). In class the teacher gave us a chapter in the book "The House on Mango Street".We read the chapter and needed a way to perform the chapter while reading it.We created noises with objects around us to enhance the listening experience for others.
Our groups chapter was about 3 kids buying a bike from a kid named Tito and after buying the bike they decide to ride it through mango street. The noise that we created was shaking a box of markers slowly increasing the speed. This sound was used in a part when the kids start accelerating.

The Interview
We also created poems about a person that we interviewed. My partner was francisco , during our interview he talked about how important soccer and his mom is to him. He told me that " My mother is the most important person to me because she was the one that brought me into this world". Our whole conversation was pretty much the same until he said something that surprised me quite a bit. He said that he wanted to become a doctor. And out of these words I created a poem for him which will be displayed below.

After creating my first draft we had critique from eight graders. This helped us because they were ideas from a younger audience and in my opinion he was way more creative than I was. He helped create some imagery for my poem.
We also created self portraits that matched the poems that our partners created for us. The reason why I chose this image was because it was the only image where I did not derp out. And because the photo was taken outside which shows the adventurous side of me.

The Performance
Instead of creating a performance like everyone else Jakob and I created a website. It consisted of the self portraits and poems of everyone in the team. It was made so you could easily access/ search through the photos to find yours or a friends self portrait or poem. Although it may not seem like it , it did take a lot of time because of small issues that would affect the whole website and because we were missing some photos of other people. In the end we still ended up having to present something. During the presentation I just talked about how to use the website and what the search methods were.
