About the Project
This project was separated in 3 parts. First we were introduced to cooking we learned what some ingredients do in different plates we also learned the different ways to cook food and meat through fire , smoke ,water and acid. After learning the basics of cooking we went more in depth and learned the Science of cooking. We learned about various topics such as the transfer of heat , how we taste , the browning in meat and fermentation. When we finished learning about cooking we were given 5 ingredients and had to create a dish with them to give to five chefs who were going to judge it.We also made a video and a poster to go with out dish.In my case my group was given cucumbers , zucchini , ground beef , sesame seeds and cream cheese with these ingredients we made a zucchini boat with ground beef, rice, sesame seeds and cream cheese. Although we didn't get first place we did get to learn a lot.
Our Poster
This is our poster it contains the science behind our dish.

Reflection
I have learned a lot more after this project , I've learned the reasoning behind doing certain things for certain dishes. For an example I have learned that if you want a juicy piece of steak you want to keep the heat low because of how conduction works, the piece of meat heats up from the outside first and then it moves towards the inside. In this project I am most proud of the dish I created mostly because I could see an improvement from week 1 to the final week. When we first prepared our dish (for the video and pictures) our meat had zero flavor and the whole dish tasted bland and in the day of exhibition our meal was full of flavor. If I were to do this project again I would like to be a lot more creative with our dish as the judges said it was a safe meal and wasn't too creative. I would also like to get my ideas out there to my group.
